Publish WAMC's
IRS Form 990
To: WAMC Northeast Pirate Network -
What a great site you have! I learned of your
site from the Capital District Business Review. Your site is a great
soap box for those with an opinion on Alan (I wish the English language
had a means to express inflection, as Alan is pronounced with a distinct
nasal twang in my household, sort of like Portia on the old Fred Allen
Show).
I had to stop watching WNYT-TV NewsChannel 13 until Alan became
a semi-regular. Alan is like mental nettles to me - a persistent itch that
won't go away, no matter what you do.
To my point. WAMC is a not-for-profit corporation which
must annually complete an IRS Form 990 - "Return of Organization Exempt
From Income Tax". This is public information, and includes the salaries
of the top five compensated individuals.
The Capital District Business Review used to report on a different
not-for-profit
in every issue, but stopped a couple of years ago. The reports did embarrass
some executives whose salaries seemed excessive in light of their company's
public persona of "sack cloth and ashes" poor.
I recommend that you acquire and publish the WAMC Form 990
for fiscal year 1998, as well as the 1999 Form once available. I
am sure Alan's compensation will be stunning.
One other thought. Perhaps you might consider providing a brief synopsis
of who you are relative to WAMC and how you came to be an alternative
voice of reason and insight.
Keep up the good work. I enjoy reading you and your contributor's comments.
